Rolfing has a reputation of being painful. In the past, there was some belief that there had to be a certain level of intensity to get the job done. But through research, and a better understanding of fascia and the nervous system, we know Rolfing does not need to be painful to be effective. Kate believes there should be ongoing communication between practitioner and client to develop trust and a dynamic level of engagement with the tissue that meets the needs of the individual client. We will also work together to explore a more nuanced understanding of sensation and perception to cultivate sensory-motor awareness.
